What is FoodLab Sydney?
We are a community of people working to make our City a better place to live and eat.
Drawing on the experience of our partner FoodLab Detroit we are all about providing training and support for local residents – like you – who want to start careers and small businesses in food.
We will supply you with the tools for change – kitchen skills, business know-how, community and mentor connections, sustainability practices – so that you can realise your idea for a future in food and in doing so create a more vibrant local food economy.
How does it work?
You will participate in a tailored program – a food business incubator – that offers a formal TAFE NSW qualification in kitchen operations, plus training in business skills and entrepreneurship.
You will receive mentoring and support from successful business leaders who will share experiences in their own small food enterprises. You’ll learn how to create a brand, market a product, navigate regulations, do basic accounting and find your market.
You will be part of a network of local food artisans and entrepreneurs contributing to a vibrant ecosystem of small food businesses. Connect, collaborate and consult with like-minded peers and mentors through post-program support.
Who can participate?
FoodLab Sydney is for anyone with an interest in food.
You can share your skills and experience by enroling in the training, becoming a mentor, or joining our network of like-minded businesses, focused on food for profit and purpose. No prior education or experience is necessary to enrol in the program.
